At Magic Moments we believe that “our future lies in the hands of our children”, therefore, it is our responsibility to empower them with the tools for success. Our environment is safe, warm and nurturing, which enhances the growth of the “whole child” cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.
We provide hands-on-experiences where children are encouraged to explore a variety of materials through play. Communication is a key component and is accomplished through daily communication, weekly classroom newsletters, family/teacher conferences, and family information board will keep you updated on your child’s activities and progress.
What would a typical day be like for my child?
When you tour the center you will notice daily schedules posted on the parent boards located outside each room. The daily schedule is age specific for each classroom. The children will experience a balance between learning activities, rest, and play
Who will be at the school every day?
Your child’s lead teacher is trained for the child’s age level and stays with him or her through the majority of the day for continuity and consistency. Supporting our total learning experience are a seasoned Director, and Assistant Director. Also faculty teacher’s assistants, as well as a kitchen manager, complement the team by offering support and assistance.
What is the faculty to children ratio?
The ratio is age and state specific. We are committed to following the designated state ratios at a minimum.
What type of background do the teachers have?
All off our staff have or are in the process of receiving their credentials in early childhood and have been with us for more than 5 years. The teachers stay current with ongoing trainings; completing a minimum of 20 hours per year. Our wonderful staff is committed to providing the highest quality care and early childhood education for each our children.
What are Magic Moments safety measures?
The main focus of Magic Moments is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children. Our building is located in an easily accessible location on school grounds. Because our building is not in a heavily traveled area this enhances the safety of the children. The building is equipped with a buzzer system Two separate fenced playgrounds feature play space for two year olds and preschool age children. A staff member, trained in CPR and First Aid, is always available and fire and tornado drills are conducted monthly.
What kind of curriculum do you use?
The curriculum at Magic Moments is based on the philosophy that children learn best through hands-on activities that address the needs of the whole child. Magic Moments believes that a curriculum is individualized and emerges from the developmental needs and interests of each child. We promote individualization in the areas of cognitive development, literacy/language, social, emotional, self-help, and physical development. Themes are used to introduce information and learning takes place as a child explores and manipulates objects and events through both child-initiated and adult initiated experiences. Adults provide opportunities for individual, small group and large group experiences to enhance the child’s own choices and direct their own learning throughout the day. The curriculum incorporates the Foundation to the Indiana Academic Standards for Young Children from Birth to Age 5 in the categories of English/Language Art, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, and Visual Arts.
How should I dress my child?
Dress your child in clothing that is comfortable for a variety of active, and often messy, activities. Please provide a complete change of clothing appropriate for the season. This includes winter activities in as low as 25 degree weather. Families can assure their comfort by providing appropriate outdoor clothing such as hats and gloves daily during winter months.
Tennis shoes are recommended because of the movement and gross motor activities that occur daily. Please do not send your child in flop flops. All shoes must have backs.
