PROGRAM PROFILE

At Magic Moments we believe that education begins at birth and it is our responsibility to make these early years count. We believe that each child is unique and should be provided with an environment that respects that uniqueness and allows him to grow, learn, and explore freely. We believe that “our future lies in the hands of our children”; therefore, it is our responsibility to empower them with the tools for success.

The environment is safe, warm and nurturing, which enhances the growth of the “whole child” cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. We provide hands-on-experiences where children are encouraged to explore a variety of materials through play. Communication is a key component and is accomplished through daily communication, weekly classroom newsletters, family/teacher conferences, and family information board will keep you updated on your child’s activities and progress. On an average day we care for 50 children.

INDOOR SETTING

roomThe classrooms at Magic Moments are designed for the children by making the room arrangements conducive to learning through play. Each classroom has centers for encouraging growth in every child socially, emotionally and cognitively.  Throughout the day children have the opportunity to explore learning centers, both permanent and temporary ones that rotate. Learning Centers include, but are not limited to: block building center with accessories (i.e. vehicles, animals, people), art area, housekeeping area and puppet play, rotating dramatic play centers (i.e. fire fighters, space

travel, restaurant, etc.,) natural science, sand and water table with accessories, large group meeting area, table toys and manipulatives, musical instruments, literacy area, and writing center. The learning centers provide opportunities for your child to develop self confidence and practice decision-making in each center with guidance.

Safety checks are done regularly throughout the environment.

OUTDOOR SETTING

outsideYour child’s experiences on the playground are an important part of the program and his/her development. The playground is an extension of the classroom. It combines opportunities for exploration, creativity and play. Our two separate fenced playground areas feature play space for two year olds and preschool age children. The playgrounds are safe and scaled to a child’s size while offering children choices and the freedom to select safe materials to use outdoors.

MEALS AND SNACKS

Meal times  are a relaxed time of the day where conversations and discussions are important.  These times during the day are important for many reasons – it gives children the feeling of being part of a “family” where they are accepted for who they are. Lots of learning goes on at the table during meals both socially and academically. Magic Moments serves breakfast, AM snack, lunch, and PM snack.  The meals are prepared on site by Chartwells Food Service. All meals meet the national requirements for schools and child care centers. By being a part of the Fayette County School Corporation and Chartwells we are able to be part of the CACFP food program and the National School Lunch program.

REST TIMES

Rest time is provided daily for all children after lunch. This is an important time for children to re-energize after a busy morning and to prepare for the afternoon. Children rest on child size individual cots and are continually supervised. For the children that do not fall asleep alternate activities are provided.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Early Childhood ProgramMagic Moments is owned and operated by the Fayette County School Corporation. Our building is located in an easily accessible location on school grounds. Because our building is not in a heavily traveled area this enhances the safety of the children.

The addition of an Early Childhood Program through the career center is huge benefit for both the center and students.  The students bring a refreshing enthusiasm and new ideas into the classroom, as well as, extra hands. Providing individual attention is a major benefit to having the students in our center.
